At the trade fair "Schüttgut 2014" that takes place in Dortmund from the 21 - 22 May 2014 the Schmersal Group is demonstrating its industry expertise in bulk goods and material handling.
For more than 50 years Schmersal has been developing and manufacturing heavy switchgear for difficult environmental conditions. For the first time in Dortmund, an emergency pull cable and belt alignment switch with different network solutions for short and long distances will be presented. The company is exhibiting to trade visitors, alternatives to conventional wiring concepts. These alternative concepts allow more than just a simplified installation, but they also allow the visualisation or documentation of every single actuation of the switchgear. This function accomplishes an important contribution to preventive maintenance and is called for more and more by operators.
Some varied demonstrators for all standard and ex-switchgear range or products will also be on display in Dortmund (Picture). Some product ranges are suitable for temperatures of -40°C to +200oC. They are primarily used in the metalworking industry.
In power stations, cement factories, opencast mines, recycling plants, foundries and handling facilities for ships and railway, heavy switchgear from the Schmersal range of products are in use. These have been developed for temperatures of -40°C to +80oC and can withstand a high level of loading. In these applications the explosion suppression is a very important aspect.
Even though the Schmersal Group is at home with the entire industrial automation technology, the heavy industry belongs to the core target industries, because the company started in the fifties with the switchgear development for heavy position switches.
The intensive and continued cooperation with our customers in the heavy machinery construction also led to Schmersal developing customer specific "Heavy Duty" variants of both switchgear and safety control systems. Some examples will also be on display in Dortmund.
The company is represented in all the important raw material producing countries of the world with its own subsidiaries or long established sales partners in Brazil, India and China and even with its own production facilities. This creates the optimal prerequisites for supporting and cooperating with "Global Players" in plant construction and with raw material extraction and processing.
