Schmersal presents integrated systems and solutions for conveyor technology

A highlight at SOLIDS 2018: new product family for belt alignment switches

Wuppertal, 24 October 2018. The Schmersal Group will be showing a wide range of products and systems for the bulk material handling industry at SOLIDS 2018 in Dortmund next month. These products and systems are specifically adapted to the needs of an extensive variety of conveyor systems and applications and guarantee not only personal safety, but also process reliability and protection of investments.
Schmersal has worked together with sales partner Coal Control Gesellschaft für Automation mbH to significantly extend its product portfolio for conveyor technology: The comprehensive range will be showcased at SOLIDS with a belt function model. Coal Control specialises in preventive monitoring of conveyor belts, such as splice, rip and cord control, and extends the Schmersal safety range to include joint solutions which provide investment protection for conveyor systems. On view at SOLIDS are items such as emergency stop buttons and wire-pull emergency stop switches, including safety networks, level threshold switches, belt alignment switches, switchgears for explosion protection, level indication systems and tear and longitudinal crack monitoring systems. Schmersal also offers comprehensive solutions for reliable signal processing: for example, Schmersal emergency-stop pushbuttons, pull-wire emergency stop switches and T545 series belt alignment switches can be quickly upgraded to include a 2-wire bus system using a simple plug and play connection. This provides simple, reliable signal evaluation for safety devices, even over long distances.   "Our joint product portfolio is a truly unique selling point. No other market participant provides the systems and solutions that we offer in conjunction with our consultation services," says Udo Sekin, Business Development Manager Heavy Industry at Schmersal Group. Trade fair highlight for conveyor technology
One undoubted highlight among the products which Schmersal is presenting at SOLIDS is its new belt alignment switch product family. This product line comprises three ranges – Economy, Standard and Performance – which are optimally matched to the specific speed of conveyors of all sizes. Conveyor belts can spring out of their designated track, causing great damage. Belt alignment switches are used to detect any belt misalignment at an early stage. Smaller deviations in alignment above 10° trigger a pre-warning while greater deviations, above 25°, for example, activate a shut-off. The pre-warning gives the conveyor system owner's maintenance department enough time to prevent unscheduled production shutdowns and use suitable measures to repair malfunctions. Belt alignment switches thus help to reduce breakdowns and downtimes, thus ensuring greater system availability. Visit Schmersal at SOLIDS in Dortmund on 7 and 8 November 2018: Stand K 22, Hall 5
